infraction wines
2020 SAUVIGNON BLANC
APPELLATION: Sonoma County
THE IDEA:
A riff off the traditional Bordeaux white blend, the 2020 Infraction is composed of ninety-five percent Sauvignon Blanc and five percent Semillon. Sourced from three parcels nestled in cooler sections of Sonoma County, the Infraction was fermented with native yeast and aged in equal parts neutral 325 liter “cigar” style barrels and stainless-steel barrels at cold temperatures. The 2020 Infraction connects bold new world aromatic pop with supple acidity and juicy texture.
MY NOTES:
Light straw color. Striking aromatics of pineapple, white peach, and papaya. Ample acidity harnesses the generous mid-palate with notes of lemon zest, honeydew melon, and pink grapefruit. The rewarding finish exhibits notes of passion fruit, mango, and key lime.
2019 PINOT NOIR
APPELLATION: Russian River Valley
THE IDEA:
Shorter barrel aging, no new oak, and fermented with native yeasts and minimal extraction to allow for an early release. The 2019 Constant Disruptions is energetic and opulent Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.
MY NOTES:
Bold aromatics of ripe plum skin, hibiscus, cola, and toasted caramel. The layered midpalate reveals elements of toffee, allspice, and dark cherry. Seductive notes of vanilla, raspberry, dark chocolate, rose hip and graphite highlight the finish.
2019 PINOT NOIR
APPELLATION: Anderson Valley
THE IDEA:
Shorter barrel aging, no new oak, and fermented with minimal extraction to allow for an early release. The 2019 Anderson Valley Constant Disruptions is a bright, enticing, and wondrous Pinot Noir.
MY NOTES:
Crunchy light strawberry, red apple skin, and geranium notes highlight the heady aromatics. The vibrant mid-palate reveals inviting elements of pomegranate, cranberry, and green tea. Hints of cola, sandalwood, and pine needles complete the refined finish.
2018 ZINFANDEL
APPELLATION: Mendocino County
THE PLACE & PROCESS:
Two parcels of gnarled century old vines. Small bits of Carignan and Cinsault interplanted with the Zinfandel. The dry farmed and head pruned vines produce a rich and expressive wine.
MY NOTES:
Bold aromatics weave a careful balance between dark fruits and spice. Black cherry, huckleberry, and subtle pink peppercorn notes elevate the powerful aromas. The soft mid-palate unfolds with accents of cassis, blackberry, and mocha. The textured finish exhibits supple tannins, ample acidity, and elements of ripe plum, eucalyptus, and toffee.
